Fast is pretty much the best word for the past two weeks. The weeks went by quickly, so that is part of the reason I would use that word; however, there are several other reasons.
The tornados from last week destroyed so much so fast. We were unbelievably lucky and did not have any damage. A house two doors down had two massive trees fall on top of it. We never even lost power, and for that and everything else, I am thankful. The Day School where John and Will go to daycare lost power on Thursday. The quote of that week pertains to this power outage.
I am currently blogging from the bus on the way home from the state track meet. Growing up, I went to state meets to win it all with my amazing teammates. Now, as a coach at the second smallest 6A school, I do not have the same goal. We take it event by event and hope for personal bests instead of championships. This meet had some wonderful bright spots and FAST moments. Our two-miler surprised us and got second. Then...our "supa" fast sprinter won three events and set two new state records. So fast! It is so amazing to watch him run and hear people talk about how fast he is. I think the only way I could be prouder of at kid is if I were his mom. He does refer to me as his second mother by the way. :).
My children have enjoyed a spoiled rotten weekend in Scottsboro. I am looking forward to seeing them tomorrow for my first Mother's Day as a mom of two. John and Will and Tom got me an awesome Coach purse that I picked out at the outlets in Foley.
Fast is not the word to describe track season. I have been practicing after school since January 24th. I am very excited to be able to pick up my babies from school again. There is nothing like when John sees me, yells "mama!," and runs to me. Yay for my family afternoons and the quickly approaching summer break!
Quote of the week #1:
Me: John, baby, you can't go to school today. The power is out at school.
John: Mom, what if we just get Ms. Monica some new bulbs. Can I go to school then?
Quote of the week #2:
Random girl who has never actually spoken to our insanely fast, going to be famous one day sprinter: Oh my God! You're my friend on facebook! Will you take a picture with me?
My sprinter in a desperate attempt to not be rude: (blushing) Ummm, yeah, sure. (cuts his eyes at me, rolls them, and shakes his head)
